CBUS Events LLC ("CBUSEVENTS," "we," "our," or "us") operates the platform at cbusevents.com (the "Platform"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose and protect information about you when you use our Platform, attend events, or interact with our services. By using the Platform, you agree to the collection and use of information as described in this policy.

1. Information we collect

1.1 Information you provide directly

When you create an account, register for an event, apply to vend, or contact us, we may collect:

  • Name and display name
  • Email address
  • Phone number (if provided for text alerts)
  • Business name, type, and description (vendors, venues, organizers, food professionals)
  • Payment information processed securely through Stripe (we do not store card numbers)
  • Photos and media you upload to your profile or listings
  • TikTok handle, Instagram handle, or other social media identifiers (creators)
  • Columbus following size and content niche (creator applicants)
  • Application content submitted for the 1313 Festival or other CBUSEVENTS events

1.2 Information collected automatically

When you use the Platform, we automatically collect:

  • IP address and approximate location
  • Browser type and device information
  • Pages visited and features used
  • Referring URLs
  • Cookies and similar tracking technologies (see Section 6)

1.3 Event photography and media

CBUSEVENTS and its authorized partners may photograph or record events produced by CBUSEVENTS, including the 1313 Festival. By attending a CBUSEVENTS-produced event, you acknowledge that your image may be captured and used for promotional purposes. If you do not wish to be photographed, please notify event staff on-site.

2. How we use your information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Process payments and issue refunds through Stripe
  • Send event confirmations, RSVP updates, vendor reveals and day-of text alerts (with your consent)
  • Surface vendor and venue listings to organizers and attendees
  • Match brands with creators through the CBUSEVENTS Creator Collective program
  • Send the Columbus Events Weekly newsletter (with your consent)
  • Enforce our Terms of Service and platform policies
  • Analyze platform usage to improve our services
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal information to third parties. We do not allow advertisers to pay to have CBUSEVENTS promote their products in communications without clear disclosure.

3. How we share your information

3.1 Public listings

Vendor, venue, organizer and food professional profiles are publicly visible on the Platform. Information you include in your listing — business name, description, photos, location and contact details you choose to display — is visible to all Platform users.

3.2 Creator public pages

If you participate in the CBUSEVENTS Creator Collective, your creator page at cbusevents.com/creators/[handle] is publicly accessible. This includes your name, niche, Columbus reach statistics, Columbus picks and brand partnerships you have approved for display.

3.3 Service providers

We share information with trusted service providers who help us operate the Platform:

  • Supabase (database and authentication)
  • Stripe (payment processing)
  • Resend (transactional email, sent from hello@cbusevents.com)
  • IONOS (domain and email hosting)
  • Google Analytics (usage analytics, ID: G-P70BRSL5E5)

Each provider is bound by their own privacy policies and data processing agreements.

3.4 Legal requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect the rights, property or safety of CBUSEVENTS, our users or the public.

4. Payment processing

All payment transactions on the Platform are processed by Stripe, Inc. CBUSEVENTS does not store credit card numbers or full payment card data. The following products are currently processed through our Stripe account:

By submitting payment information, you agree to Stripe's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.

5. Data retention

We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial compliance purposes.

Event application data and transaction records may be retained for up to seven years for tax and accounting purposes.

6. Cookies and tracking

The Platform uses cookies and similar technologies to:

  • Keep you signed in across sessions
  • Remember your preferences
  • Analyze Platform usage through Google Analytics (analytics ID: G-P70BRSL5E5)

You may disable cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect your ability to sign in or use certain Platform features.

Cookie types we use

  • Strictly necessary cookies — required for authentication and session management. Cannot be disabled.
  • Analytics cookies — Google Analytics cookies that help us understand how the Platform is used. You may opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
  • Preference cookies — remember your theme preference (light or dark mode) and other display settings.

7. Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Opt out of marketing communications at any time
  • Withdraw consent for text alerts

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@cbusevents.com. We will respond within 30 days.

To unsubscribe from the Columbus Events Weekly newsletter, use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter email.

8. Children's privacy

The Platform is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact us at hello@cbusevents.com and we will delete it promptly.

9. Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS), row-level security policies in our database, and access controls on our admin systems. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

If you believe your account or personal information has been compromised, contact us immediately at hello@cbusevents.com.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "last updated" date at the top of this page. For material changes, we will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before the changes take effect. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
